Our UK Data Centres
Operating in Hull, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield and Barnsley
We operate in a number of data centres across the UK. These are Hull, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield and Barnsley.
When we are sourcing new data centres, we always ensure that it meets our minimum specification requirements. This ensures that we are always able to deliver services on the level of excellence that our customers have come to expect.
Below is a guideline that we stick to when sourcing a new location for hosting our equipment.
Typical Technical Specification
Power Feed
- Dual ring 4MVA backup generator
- 4MVA UPS
- 1.6MVA scalable to 2.4MVA (n+1)
Cooling
- Under-floor air-conditioning systems (n+1)
- Maintained temperature of 20 degrees
- Non-Ozone depleting system
Fire Protection
- VESDA smoke detection system
- Early warning, based on smoke particle detection
- FM200 fire supression system
- Non-destructive action
- Non-Ozone depleting system
Renewable Energy Hosting
Due to the location of our data centres, it would be difficult having them converted to be powered by solar or wind energy. So instead, we purchase renewable energy, who then pump it into the national grid, replacing the electricity we used. This gives the same result as if we were using the renewable energy ourselves, and allows us the time required to put into place an alternative, renewable energy data centres.
Disaster Prevention
In addition to the standard data centre protections, such as smoke detection, fire supression, n+1 UPS, backup generators, n+1 air-conditioning, all data centres are above potential flood areas, have diversely routed fibre and no water pipes near the equipment.
Security
In addition to preventative measures against natural disaster, we also have an extremely strict security policy and network. This ensures that our servers are always protected from any form of unwanted human intervention.
This includes an extensive CCTV system, covering both internal and external areas, ram-raid bollards and a secure pass checking system across the entire site. All of this is fully manned around the clock, 365 days a year.
Locations and Access
We have a number of data centres available to our clients, all of which meet the above minimum requirements we have set regarding service quality. It is worth noting however that not all our data centres will be able to accommodate every type of colocation solution, such as single u hosting or un-accompanied access.
